The I.M. Pei project is a team effort led by Rachel Mosman, an archivist with the Oklahoma Historical Society and board member of the Oklahoma City/County Historical Society. The team consists of Bob McCoy, president of the Oklahoma City/County Historical Society, Oklahoma City Councilman Pete White, Oklahoma City City Clerk Frances Kersey, Oklahoma State Historical Society research division director Bill Welge, RetroMetroOKC president Steve Lackmeyer, and RetroMetroOKC webmaster Justin Tyler Moore.

Special thanks goes to those who assisted in the project, including Matthew McClarty, architects Betsy and Dub Brunsteter and University of Oklahoma Associate Professor Hans Butzer.

  • The Oklahoma City/County Historical Society just celebrated its 30th anniversary. Over the years the society has a collected a sizeable collection of artifacts representing the history of Oklahoma City. The society’s goal is to actively present these treasures of history to the public in a number of different public forums to help raise the awareness of how historically significant Oklahoma City and Oklahoma County has been to the development of the state.

    The society currently has numerous projects in the works and many can be viewed on organization’s web page at www.okc-history.org. OCCHS is a not-for-profit, all volunteer organization and it welcomes anyone who would like to become involved in its efforts.


  • For over 100 years the Oklahoma Historical Society has strived to protect, chronicle and share the history of our great state. The Oklahoma Historical Society maintains over 20 museums & historic sites and five affiliates located throughout Oklahoma. Intriguing destinations including historic homes, military sites, and museums offer a unique glimpse into Oklahoma’s past.

  • RetroMetroOKC was started in September, 2009 by a group of history enthusiasts wishing to better promote and tell the history of the greater Oklahoma City metro and to support and work with like-minded organizations whenever possible. The group is dedicated to making history fun and accessible to all. The founding group consists of historians, authors, urban planners, attorneys, real estate professionals, videographers and designers with ages ranging from the mid-20s to mid-60s.

  • The City of Oklahoma City has a Council Manager form of government. The city is divided into eight geographical areas called wards. The mayor and eight city council members are elected to four-year terms. The voters of each ward elect a council member to represent them and the mayor is elected at large. The mayor and the council appoint a city manager to serve as the city’s chief administrative official over 4,349 full time and 691 part time employees.

  • The Inasmuch Foundation dedicated to the betterment of people, communities and the neighborhoods in which we live. From education and health to the arts and environment, the Inasmuch Foundation was created to assist charitable and educational organizations achieve their goals.

His work included a creating a 10- by 12-foot model showing how downtown might look in 1989 after the program's completion.
